Obama or McCain.... or Someone Else?

This election year has had me looking into my own views and questioning them. At the start of the 2008 President Primaries, I had full support for Senator John McCain. I supported the war in Iraq, and that was one of my main concerns. I wanted us to stay the course and McCain provided that. Obama on the other hand wanted to pull out as quickly as possible. I also supported Senator McCain because he was a Republican, and that is currently my party. I felt like Senator Obama was inexperienced in this a time of war. Obama seems like a good person but I just didn't feel like he was the man for the job. In 8 years, he may have the experience, but not now.

Over the summer my view on the war in Iraq took a drastic change. I saw that Iraqi PM Mailik wants us to leave as soon as we can. As much as I support the cause for the war, I feel like if we stay we are occupiers of Iraq. That makes almost as bad as Germany during WW2 when they occupied several countries. Another thing is that if we leave now, we are not losing. We are listening to what the Iraqi people want. If PM Mailik wants us to leave, then he obviously thinks his country is able to defend its self from extremist. Should we leave and Iraq were to fall, it wouldn't be our fault. Blame could be placed on Mailik.

So now that my view of the war has changed this has opened me up to a candidate whom I liked. I liked what he had to say, except for Iraq. Now with my view changing, I like everything I have heard him say. This man is not Barrack Obama, nor is it John McCain. This mans name is Chuck Baldwin. He is a third party candidate and I honestly know he wont win. As of now he isn't on my ballot, and if he doesnt get on it by November I will vote for Senator McCain.

Would a third party President be good for our country? I think so! Yes, I am a Republican. However, these days nothing gets done in Washington. We always here of Republicans fighting with the Democrats and vice versa. They fight, and fail to get anything accomplished. For example. offshore drilling has been in the press as of late. McCain supported it, Obama did not. Congress of course sided with their party's persumptive nominees. They failed to get anything done with the high cost of gas and decided it was time for a five week recess. I wonder, had we had more Independents and other third party senators in Congress could something have gotten done?

As long as our great country is divided in Red and Blue, I feel like we will not be able to achieve anything worth while. Until the day that we have more Independents in Government it will always be the Donkey VS the Elephant. This election, unless something changes I will probobley cast a vote for a nominee not of the Republican or Democrat Parties. Sure, he may not win but hopefully soon people will get fed up with both party's lack of accomplishment in office.

Thanks
